Service is a core part of Freemasonry. Supporting others—through practical help, volunteering and charitable giving—is central to the First Degree and to lodge life.
Freemasonry encourages members to practise kindness and service in everyday life. Many brethren support charitable fundraising and volunteer time to help people in our local area and beyond.
Members often contribute to community initiatives and causes that matter locally, whether through donations, practical support, or helping to organise fundraising events.
We also recognise the work of Durham Benevolence, the Province’s charitable arm, supporting those in need across the Province of Durham.

While lodge meetings are for members, we also enjoy social events outside the lodge that welcome spouses, partners and families. These occasions help build friendships and strengthen the sense of community around the lodge.
